Each edition contains three selection rounds. The first
two are centred around physical assignments. Many of these assignments
are carried out on the basis of local activities, such as working in mines,
ploughing with oxen, fishing 'without breath', but also dancing and playing
        football with the local population.
The third selecetion round is the assessment round on the basis of popularity
within the group. The competitor who turns out to be least popular has
to go straight to the return competition. The assignments are played in
different ways. Not all the assignments are carried out by all the competitors.
There are duels between two competitors as well, who are selected by the
        others to do so.
The scoring system of Mission Kilimanjaro is not very complicated. Each
selection is a moment of tension: the competitor who loses is referred
        to the return competition.
